slot machine in casino restaurant

Montana Jack’s provides friendly and fun gambling in Billings and Missoula, but with gambling comes behaving in a well-mannered fashion. Along with almost every public place you go, there is proper etiquette to follow. In this blog, we are going to go over adequate casino etiquette that newcomers can reference or veterans can double-check on.

Do Not Take Too Many Pictures
Most, if not all, casinos in the world take extreme caution when it comes to security. This means most casinos do not like it when you are taking a lot of pictures. Here at Montana Jack’s, we don’t mind the occasional group picture, but we do prefer you take as few pictures as possible.

Stay Focused On the Game, Not Your Phone
While we are on the topic of your phone, talking on your phone is distracting to players trying to concentrate on playing. We find it to be most polite to step outside the playing area and take your phone call.

Dress For the Occasion
For Montana Jack’s, dressing for the occasion is not an issue as you can come dressed casually. We just ask that you have decent clothing on. It should go without saying that we expect our customers to have shoes, bottoms, and a top on. For other casinos around the world, though, it is recommended that you check to see what the dress code is.

Do Not Drink Too Much
Montana Jack’s has plenty of beer and liquors to choose from, and we want you to have fun. However, we want you to have fun in moderation. Potentially making a fool of yourself can ruin your experience along with the people around you.

Listen to the Dealer
It is a general rule of thumb that you respect the dealer. If they say something like “no more bets,” then they mean it. Our dealers are here to help you enjoy your time, but that comes with respect.

Cashing Out
Remember that you will need to cash out before you leave the table for games like roulette, blackjack, and craps. We do not have all of these game options at Montana Jack’s, but this is a rule that you should follow no matter where you are. Indicate to the dealer that you want to leave, but wait for the end of a spin when they are less distracted. They will change your chips for generic casino cash chips. You can receive your money then.

Handling Chips
In certain games, the dealer will give everybody different colored chips. Remember your color, and know where your chips have to be placed correctly for a bet. Please, do not be afraid to ask the dealer for help if you need it. In roulette, the dealer will place winning chips on top of your bets on the table and leave them. It is your job then to remove the chips if you want. If you don’t, then your bet will “ride” onto the next turn.

Keep Your Frustrations To Yourself
Everybody is at the casino to have fun and to potentially get lucky. This goes with having too many drinks, but this can ruin the people’s experience around you. Do not take your frustration out on our machines or the staff working. This is not a good look on anybody. Gambling is all luck.

Learn To Tip
It is expected that you leave a small gratuity for the dealer when you get up to leave a table. It does not need to be generous, and don’t feel pressured to donate a big portion of your stack if you’ve had a good win. This goes with our waiting staff as well.
