Montana Jack’s is proud of our two casinos, and we bring screaming good time (if you’re lucky enough). Here in the greatest country on earth, the United States, we have the freedom to gamble as we please with some of the greatest casinos in the world. In fact, we have more casinos then the next 10 countries combined. But, what are casinos like in other countries? In this blog, we are going to look at casinos around the world and compare them to our casinos here in Montana.
Where is Illegal to Gamble?
In the United States, gambling is federally legal, but the specific laws vary from state to state. Nevada and Louisiana are the only two states that have full, across the board gambling legalized. In Montana, you have to be 18 to gamble, which is lower than a lot of states. For Montana gambling, whether you’re betting on a horse race or spinning one of Montana Jack’s slot machines, it is regulated at the state level. In general, all legal gambling within the state of Montana is limited to:
- State Lottery
- Video line gambling machines are legal with a maximum $2 bet and $800 payout
Outside of our borders though, numerous countries have totally outlawed gambling for any number of reasons. Those countries include Poland, United Arab Emirates, and Lebanon. Cambodia and North Korea allow tourists to participate in physical gambling, but for their citizens, it is completely illegal. Then there are few countries where the legality of gambling differs. For example, in Japan, you can participate in land-based gambling but online gambling remains strictly illegal in Japan. Casinos can open but it is a pain in the neck. They can only open in resorts and the resort needs facilities which include entertainment venues, an international conference hall, and a hotel. In short, just be glad you live in a country where you have the freedoms to have fun gambling and be safe doing it.
What Are Some of the Best Countries to Gamble In?
The United States is objectively the best country for casino tourism because somebody could literally visit at least one casino in every state. Once we go over the border though, there are a few countries that are worthy rivals to the United State’s casino industry.
Singapore legalized on-land gambling in 2005 and has thrived ever since. Singapore is known to have some of the most exuberant casinos in the world. This isn’t necessarily a surprise if you’ve been to Singapore. They are known for their forward-thinking architecture.
France is another country that has a thriving gambling scene. It is much more than just croissants and the Eiffel Tower. France has some of the oldest casinos in the world. The biggest rave about French casinos is the ambiance that they have. French casinos are classy and beautiful.
One more country we are going to talk about is the United Kingdom, specifically London. London is not known for its gambling, but they do get a lot of revenue from their casinos. Their casinos are also classy, beautiful, and very popular, especially for tourists.
